Are there any employment opportunities at the Art Bank?

What are the rental rates?
Rental rates range between $120 a year to $3,600 a year per art work, however, most works are priced between $120 and $960 per year. The rental fees are based on the appraised value of the artwork.
Does the Art Bank offer tours of its facilities?
No, the Art Bank’s small staff limits its ability to provide tours. Please see our virtual tour.
How many works do you have to choose from? 
The Canada Council Art Bank is the largest collection of contemporary Canadian art anywhere, and includes approximately 18 000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, and prints by over 2 500 artists.
Can I donate or sell an art work to the Art Bank? 
Unfortunately, the Art Bank does not accept donations of art works. Also, it only accept purchase submissions from the original artist, art dealer, or representative of the artist. You may want to try to sell the art work at an auction house or donate the work to a charity.
Do you rent to individuals for their home? 
Unfortunately, the Art Bank does not rent to private homes or at-home offices. Many municipal galleries offer this service, check your local gallery.

What is your procedure for purchasing?
Our procedure for purchasing is outlined in the Operating Guidelines under New Purchases.
How can an artist know if and when the Art Bank will be holding a purchase? 
If the Art Bank is holding a purchase, it will advertise on this website in the New and Noteable Section of the home page. Check the website often.
When can I exchange my artworks?
At the end of the two-year contract, clients can renew or change their artworks
How long does it take to complete the rental process?
The process is simple and takes about 6 weeks to complete our rental process. This may vary according to how busy your schedule is, as the client is a very important part of the selection process. This time may also vary depending on the distance you are away from the Art Bank.
Are the staff at the Art Bank able to appraise art works?
No, the Art Bank does not offer appraisal services. If you would like to have a work appraised, it would be in your best interest to contact an accredited fine art appraiser.
Does the Art Bank rent its facilities to other organizations?
The Art Bank is able to rent its facilities for certain events that do not interfere with regular working operation. If you are interested in more information regarding renting the facility at 921 St. Laurent Blvd, please call (613) 566-4414, ext.5603 or email : artbank@canadacouncil.ca.
Can I buy the Art Bank work I have in my office?
No, the Art Bank only rents and does not sell its art works.
Does the Art Bank rent panels?
The Art Bank rents panels at a cost of $50 per panel. These panels are 4’ by 8’ painted white wood and fit together with a cleavis pin. If you are interested in renting panels for an event, please call (613) 566-4414, ext.5603 or email : artbank@canadacouncil.ca.
When will you be holding your next purchase? 
The Art Bank now operates as a self-sufficient organization and all revenues used towards purchases are generated through our rental program. Funds permitting, the Art Bank will try to hold a purchase each year.
Can I rent art if I work outside of Ottawa? 
Yes you can! The Canada Council Art Bank provides an art rental service all across Canada and internationally.

Who are your clients?
For thirty years the Canada Council Art Bank has been renting contemporary Canadian art to government and public institutions all across Canada. Over 6000 works are currently on rental to federal government departments and agencies, associations, hospitals, schools, municipalities, and private corporations.
