Duke and Duchess of York Prize in Photography

The Duke and Duchess of York Prize was endowed by the Government of Canada in 1986 on the occasion of Prince Andrew's marriage. The prize is awarded annually to a professional Canadian artist for personal creative work.

Governor General's Awards in Visual and Media Arts

The Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts are Canada’s foremost distinctions for excellence in visual and media arts.  These awards were created in 1999 through a partnership of the Canada Council for the Arts and then Governor General of Canada, Roméo LeBlanc.

Joseph S. Stauffer Prizes

Saidye Bronfman Award

The Saidye Bronfman Award is Canada's foremost distinction for excellence in the fine crafts. Created in 1977 by the Bronfman family to honour their mother on her 80th birthday, the prize is awarded annually to an exceptional craftsperson.

Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Award

The Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Awards are awarded annually for outstanding artistic achievement by Canadian mid-career artists in the disciplines of Dance, Inter-Arts, Media Arts, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts and Writing and Publishing.

Artists Chosen to Represent Canada at the Venice Biennale

The Venice Bienniale offers an opportunity for Canadian artists to be presented at the Canadian Pavilion in Venice to an international audience.  The competition process for the selection of the presenter and artist is a collaboration between the Canada Council for the Arts and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
