Ottawa, 10 September 2003 – The Canada Council Art Bank will be on tour in the Maritimes from September 15 - 26, 2003. The rental exhibition will be in Charlottetown at Confederation Centre from September 15 - 19 and in Moncton at Canada Place from September 22 - 26, and is not open to individuals. Art Bank representatives will also be installing works for clients in Fredericton, Saint John and Shediac.
The rental exhibition is made up of about 400 contemporary works by Canadian artists, with a significant number by regional artists including Frank Lapointe and Pam Hall from Newfoundland and Labrador, Sylvia Ficken and Jacques Hurtubise from Nova Scotia, Thaddeus Holownia, Herzl Kashetsky and Yvon Gallant from New Brunswick, and Brian Burke and Hilda Woolnough from Prince Edward Island.
The Canada Council Art Bank seeks to promote Canadian culture by renting out original works of art to public and private organizations. This art work rental service allows organizations to create a desirable work environment while establishing an innovative and prestigious professional public image. With some 18,000 works (paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings and prints) by more than 2,500 artists, the Art Bank holds the largest collection of contemporary art in Canada. In addition to rentals, the Bank offers a range of complementary services (professional consultation, transportation, and installation of works).
