Happy 1-2-5!!

The Art Bank staff proudly received members of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA) in June.  Members toured the Art Bank and individual artists were shown the history of the placement of their works in the collection.

The RCA is composed of over 500 established professionals working across Canada in 20 visual arts disciplines; from painting and sculpture to architecture, design, fine craft, photography and filmmaking.  The members are elected to the Academy in mid-career by a jury of their peers.  Kiawak Ashoona (Inuit sculptor), Mary Anne Barkhouse (Kwakiutl sculptor and jeweller), Marlene Creates (photographer from Newfoundland), Charles Gagnon (1934 -2003 painter from Montréal), Pat Durr (painter and printmaker from Ontario), Takao Tanabe (painter and printmaker from British Columbia), and Carol Wainio (painter from Ontario) are just a few of the many RCA artists represented in the Art Bank collection.

As a tribute to their 125th anniversary, the Art Bank will be adding the RCA designation to each member's name on its labels.
