Putting the Collection to Work
The Art Bank is pleased to announce that the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (AGNS), in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Education, has created ArtReach, a project promoting school and community involvement in AGNS programming. This is a pilot project for the Art Bank's Support to Canadian Collecting Institutions for Outreach to Schools and Hospitals program.
The photos below are of children who have been inspired by the works donated by the Art Bank. Works by artists Marcel Barbeau, Douglas Bentham, Vera Frenkel, General Idea, Les Levine, William Lobchuk and Alan Wood are among the works donated to the AGNS for this purpose.
To date, the works on paper provided by the Art Bank have been shown in these following Nova Scotia cities:
Liverpool - Queen's County Museum (Feb 7 - June 22) Amherst - Amherst Regional High School (February 27 - May 23) Port Hawkesbury - Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre (May 4 - August 31).
For exhibitions to come and to read poems inspired by the works, please consult the AGNS web site: http://www.agns.gov.ns.ca/halifax/red/artreach.html
