The Art Bank remembers the artists who
have passed away in the last three years

The Art Bank would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of the 27 artists with work in its collection who have passed away since 2004. Their work continues to bring pleasure to our many Art Bank clients.

The majority of these works were purchased in the 70s and 80s – an indication of how successful the jury process has been in identifying and purchasing major Canadian artists.

Deceased in 2004:

Edmund Alleyn (born in Quebec, Que. in 1931); Bob Boyer (born in Prince Albert, Sask. in 1948); Reta Cowley (born in Moose Jaw, Sask. in 1910); Naomi Itye (born in Baker Lake, Nunavut in 1928); Jean-Paul Jérome (born in Montreal, Que. in 1928); Winston Leathers (born in Miami, Man. in 1932); Guido Molinari (born in Montreal, Que. in 1933); Douglas Morton (born in Winnipeg, Man. in 1926); Toni Onley (born in Douglas, Isle of Man, England in 1928); John Snow (born in Vancouver, B.C. in 1911).

Deceased in 2005:

Carl Beam (born in Manitoulin Island, Ont. in 1943); Ghitta Caiserman-Roth (born in Montreal, Que. in 1923); Jacques de Tonnancour (born in Montreal, Que. in 1917); Fred Douglas (born in Vancouver, B.C. in 1935); Nancy Edell (born in Halifax, N.S. in 1942); Enn Erisalu (born in Haapsalu, Estonia in 1943); Elaine Kowalsky (born in Winnipeg, Man. in 1948); Marilyn Levine (born in Medicine Hat, Alta. in 1935); Mimi Parent (born in Montreal, Que in 1924); Sam Tata (born in Shanghai, China in 1911).
