Grand Opening Ceremony

Haida Heritage Centre at Kaay Linagaay

Art Bank Director, Victoria Henry, attended the Grand Opening of the Haida Heritage Centre at Kaay Linagaay on Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands), August 23, 2008.  The Haida Heritage Centre commemorates traditional Haida cedar longhouses; each longhouse is fronted by one of the six Haida clan totem poles.

The Centre is a place to teach, learn and work according to the Haida way of life and to share this rich culture with the world.

The day started with the landing of carved Haida canoes at
the beachfront of the Heritage Centre
