Art is in the Air
Art work by Alex Cameron in front of the National War Memorial in Ottawa (photo: NCC)
Since 1992, the National Capital Commission (NCC) has installed hundreds of banners along Confederation Boulevard, the Capital’s ceremonial route. These banners brighten and enliven the heart of the Capital, and serve to highlight Canada’s cultures, provinces and territories.
This year, the theme for the banners is the work of 13 great Canadian artists, a first since the creation of the banner program. Through the talent and creativity of these artists, visitors to Canada’s Capital Region will have the opportunity to see the beauty of landscapes in Canada’s provinces and territories. These artworks were chosen from the extensive collection of the Canada Council Art Bank, the NCC’s partner in this project.
